He was admitted a week ago and discharged on Tuesday.
Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday after a serious bout of influenza. He spent a week in the hospital, missing votes in the upper chamber, and will avoid Capitol Hill for the remainder of this week.
“Senator McConnell was discharged from the hospital yesterday and is grateful for the outstanding care he received,” a spokesperson from the senator’s office said. “He is feeling better and will be working from home this week on the advice of his doctors.”
“In an abundance of caution, after experiencing flu-like symptoms over the weekend, Senator McConnell checked himself into a local hospital for evaluation last night,” Senator McConnell’s spokesperson stated at the time he was admitted. “His prognosis is positive and he is grateful for the excellent care he is receiving. He is in regular contact with his staff and looks forward to returning to Senate business.”
